At Athletic Republic Cary, we believe fitness is about more than just physical strength — it’s about showing up, growing confidence, and finding your people.
And if you’ve ever been to a 6 a.m. AR-FIT class, you’ve probably crossed paths with Meri Rega — one of our most dedicated and inspiring members.
Meri joined AR-FIT in July 2023 as a 50th birthday gift to herself. Like many of us, she knew she needed to build strength but wasn’t quite sure where to start.
“Most of my exercise before was cardio-based,” she shared. “I knew I wanted and needed to get stronger, to feel stronger, but I didn’t know where to start.”
That’s when she saw a free trial promotion and decided to give it a shot.

Her first class was no walk in the park — but the welcoming vibe from other members and the guidance from Coach Tara made a lasting impression. “Tara takes time with each of the members to get to know them so she can help them achieve their goals. She is our biggest cheerleader.”
Nearly two years later, Meri has completed over 350+ AR-FIT classes — and counting.
Making Time for Herself
Balancing life as a full-time professional and mom isn’t easy, but Meri has made AR-FIT a non-negotiable part of her daily routine. “This is the best way for me to start my day. It’s 60 minutes just for me.”
It’s more than just physical training — AR-FIT has impacted her confidence, energy, and mindset. “Each day, I feel more confident as I walk in those doors. I know my body is changing… even if sometimes it’s hard to see on the outside, I can feel it on the inside.”

Finding Her People
“The community at AR-FIT is amazing. We cheer each other on and celebrate all of our successes. They always say you have to find your people — and I have, especially in the 6 a.m. class. We’re like family.”
Whether you’re brand new to strength training or just looking for a space that pushes you and supports you in equal measure, Meri has some advice:
“Don’t hesitate. Give it a try. You CAN do it — just take the first step. We’ll be waiting for you.”
